Theory Specification Workflows

  • theorytools: Tools for transparent and collaborative theory development, including to formalize theories, track changes with version control, assess pre-empirical coherence, and derive testable hypotheses. Aligning with open science principles and workflows, ‘theorytools’ facilitates the systematic improvement of theoretical frameworks and enhances their discoverability and usability.
  • worcs: Create reproducible and transparent research projects in ‘R’. Interoperates with theorytools.

Theory-driven Informative Hypothesis Testing

  • bain: Bayes Factors for Informative Hypotheses. Computes approximated adjusted fractional Bayes factors for equality, inequality, and about equality constrained hypotheses.
  • gorica: Test Informative Hypotheses using the generalized order-restricted information criterion approximation (GORICA), an AIC-like information criterion.
  • BFpack: Test Informative Hypotheses using default Bayes factors.

Interpretable Machine Learning

  • semtree: Theory-guided exploration using structural equation modeling trees and -forests.
  • metaforest: Machine learning meta-analysis method, using random forests to select relevant moderators in a meta-analysis.
  • pema: Machine learning meta-analysis method, using Bayesian LASSO/penalized linear regression to select relevant moderators in a meta-analysis.

Structural Equation Modeling

  • tidySEM: A tidy workflow for generating, estimating, reporting, and plotting structural equation models using ‘lavaan’, ‘OpenMx’, or ‘Mplus’. Includes functionality to plot ‘dagitty’ objects, to interoperate with theorytools.
